Terms & Conditions


The therapies provided by Purely Mindful requires the client’s full consent to receiving therapy sessions from Joanne Tarbotton.  Results vary from person to person and my commitment to you is to work on the issues or problems presented by the you, the client, using whatever model or models are appropriate to the presenting situation.  This in no way implies or guarantees a ‘cure’ of the said issues or problems.

Hypnotherapy, or any other therapy provided by Joanne Tarbotton is not a replacement for medical treatment, psychological or psychiatric services or the appropriate counselling. Jo Tarbotton does not treat, prescribe for, or diagnose any condition.  On occasion you may need to obtain medical approval from your treating physician to obtain a referral or discuss your treatment with your General Practitioner.

I have been advised that I am free to terminate any or all sessions at any time. I have agreed to participate in each session to the best of my ability, and that contact between sessions will be strictly limited to telephone or email.

On occasion Purely Mindful may provide you with an mp3 download or CD, this is for your own personal use and not to be copied, given to or lent to any other person.


Changes or removal or information from the current website, social media platforms and current Terms and Condtions may occur without notice.  Purely Mindful will not be liable for any changes or removal of information and by continuing to view and use www.purelymindful.com.au it shall be considered your acceptance of such changes.

Therapy Sessions & Fees

Each session lasts for approximately one and a half hours and fees are payable at the end of each session by cash or credit/debit card.  Should you wish to pay by direct deposit, this can be made prior to your appointment.  Packages must be paid for in full prior to commencement of program.

Please be on time for you appointments, if you are late, it cannot be guaranteed that you will be able to have a full session.  Whilst I will endeavour to provide a full session, this will be subject to available.  Full fee sessions will apply.

Standards of Behaviour

Purely Mindful provides a practice that is respectful of all people and free from judgement.  You will be treated with kindness and respect at all times.  It is expected that this will be reciprocated by all clients.  It is expected that you will not attend under the influence of alcohol or any substance, behaviour in an aggressive or abuse manner.

Cancellation Policy

Should you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, notice of at least 24 hours is required.  Failure to adhere to this policy will result in a cancellation fee of $50 . Non-attendance of a fee-paying booked session without prior warning will result in a charge being made that is equal to the fee of the session.  Such fees are charged at Jo Tarbotton’s discretion and by booking your appointment with Purely Mindful, you agree to pay these fees under the above mentioned circumstances.


The private practice of Joanne Tarbotton adheres to Australian Hypnotherapists Association (AHA) Code of Practice and maintains confidentiality in accordance with AHA Ethical Guidelines. The content of all sessions and the notes that the therapist may take are private and confidential and no information will be released to any other party without your written consent.

Exceptions to Confidentiality: In an effort to provide more effective therapy, counsellors/psychotherapists/hypnotherapists regularly consult with a professional Clinical Supervisor. Clinical Supervisors are qualified and experienced professionals and any material discussed in clinical supervision is also bound by a privacy and confidentiality contract.

Another exception is in situations where the counsellor/psychotherapist/hypnotherapist believes that you may harm yourself or that someone else may be at risk of harm as a consequence of your behaviour and they may be required to report the situation including the following cases:

  1. If you threaten harm to yourself or to another person
  2. If it is believed that a child or protected adult is at risk of harm or abuse
  3. If the courts subpoena (instruct) us to provide relevant information
  4. If you share information about a proposed illegal act

Some clients attend this practice on referral from agencies that require an acknowledgment from the practice that you are attending counselling. Please discuss the procedures for this if it applies to your situation.

When you complete or leave counselling and/or hypnotherapy, written records of your contacts with the therapist are kept confidentially on file at the practice for seven years. They are stored in a locked filing cabinet.
